Barnacle cottage was a delight to stay in. It was very well equipped, clean and tidy. The location was perfect – 5 min walk to an almost private beach where the resident seal often popped up to say hi in the evenings. Easy access onto the coast path and fantastic walks from the front door. Less than a 10 min drive to the local town of Newport which had lovely shops and restaurants. Our host, Kathy was brilliant – very accommodating when we requested an extra night, we cannot wait to stay again.

Wonderful stay at Crab Cottage. Really clear communications from the host before arrival. Lots of thoughtful additions like somewhere to rinse and hang wetsuits etc. Covered area outside to hang things to dry in case of bad weather. Plenty of extra crockery, glasses, mugs etc which was much appreciated. The bespoke beach robes were the icing on the cake!

Really lovely little cottage, incredibly well equipped, beautifully furnished, and, wow, a couple of minute’s walk down to the cove for morning swims and evening stone skimming. Fab coast walk in either direction straight from the door. A special place.

An absolutely perfect cottage in the perfect place. Hard to get it down in words, but this met our expectations and more. From the proximity to the cove and Newport to the adorable , cozy feel of the rooms… we were blown away. Going to make a point to come back here again some day. Thank you’.

We spent 9 really wonderful days at Crab Cottage in Aberfforest Beach.

We are a family with 4 children and everyone had enough space because the room layout is really well thought out. The amenities of the house were outstanding, the beds very comfortable and everything looked cozy and clean. Some delicious snacks were available as a welcome. 

Most of all we were thrilled by the beautiful surroundings – the quiet beach, the path to the hidden waterfall, the hiking trail along the cliffs, the beautiful cities of Newport and Fishguard, the great beaches in the area, the tranquility – just everything. We had a magical stay. While swimming in the sea at the private cove a seal greeted us. The magic woods with waterfall. 4 teenagers and adults easily could fit in and a great location to access the coast line. The host was very responsive and very helpful. We would definitely choice to stay again.

Not sure I can do justice to describing just how special this place is. It’s so magical I wouldn’t have been shocked to see fairies in the forest. The host, the accommodation, the incredibly well stocked kitchen, the forest, waterfalls and beach. Can’t wait to come back and make more memories. Oh and the surrounding area is amazing too!

A multi-generational family break for us – this cottage wrapped us in the hug that we all needed. A superb place to rest, relax, recharge and just be together. We were truly spoiled with the weather so this location would really take some beating – the closeness to nature, the magical waterfall and ancient woodland, the bay, the dark skies, the cliff top walks, the ever changing sea and much, much more. Kathryn, our host, was superb and she has organised this cottage brilliantly thinking of everything you could want or need. Good quality contents, linen etc., and so welcome and cosy too. Clear instructions for things to do, places to visit as well as games, books, puzzles etc. We are sad to leave and cannot recommend highly enough – it was just what we love.

Barnacle Cottage was the perfect balance of ‘off the beaten track’ but close to amenities when needed. 

The cottage is superbly located for walks along the coastal path and a morning dip at Aberfforest beach. The cottage itself was quaint and had everything you would need in the well stocked kitchen. I was working from home on Friday and able to do a number of video calls without issue. I hope to visit again in the near future. Kathy was a wonderful host. Very communicative and provided great tips for local activities including a walk with a pub halfway round. Thank you!

Crab Cottage is a real gem. It’s in the most peaceful, beautiful surroundings, right next to a stunning little beach. The cottage was so warm and welcoming when we arrived, all the beds are extremely comfortable, with fluffy white towels to use. The kitchen was well-equipped and was fantastic for our Christmas lunch.
I would highly recommend this peaceful getaway, where you can step right out into nature and breath in the freshest air.
